Pearl Fired

For Tennessee: The right thing to do. Honorable, as much as a school caught cheating can have "honor". Contrasted to schools that incremenatlly offer token suspensions and "fines" that equal a few hours' pay.

For Pearl: Sadly, and especially because the PTI crew and the entire ESPN management like him, he will bubble up within 18 months at a school.

Neither did I! LOL! The U is in a hotbed of basketball talent but most of the talent is leaving the state or going to UF. They need a charismatic coach down here and they are thinking Pearl would be perfect.
Yep, can't beat that experience of knowing what you can and can't get away with, with the NCAA.... :)

The exodus begins:

Pearl's departure has already affected Tennessee's recruiting. Highly touted senior guard Kevin Ware of Rockdale County (Ga.) High School, who is ranked 91st overall and 27th at shooting guard in the ESPNU 100, has asked to be released from his commitment to the Vols, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Ware, who has been committed to Tennessee since his sophomore year, said he requested his release last week. He said he "didn't have a good feeling about the situation" after talking to Pearl on the phone last Thursday, according to the report. Tennessee would need to approve Ware's request.

When you have had nothing in terms of a basketball program, most of the time, beggars can't be choosy. And you don't honestly think alot of schools have done the same things....? Not saying it's right... just saying it ain't nothing new...
