UK tech site, The Register, reports from sources at IDC that sales have dropped more than expected.

A number of factors are involved including BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), Win 8 slow adoption and likely the most important factor a slowdown of upgrades as smartphones/tablets handle more of our everyday computing needs.

I don't know, because the sales are pretty high so even a slowdown still has tremendous unit sales.

Yeah this will all change when more of the Win 8 Hardware gets out there. Most folks are still on Win 7 which is fine but will take sometime to get folks moved over to Win8 and get use to the new look and features.
