PBS on ch.249 ?

I use to be able to see PBS-national on ch.249 and this channel is still listed in the "zap2it" TV schedule but whenever I punch in 249 on my remote I get ch 240 instead which is just ads. Is there still a ch.249 and if so why can't I get it? Could the local PBS station be making Dish block it in my area?

The channel is still there, Dish charges $1.50 per month for it. You must be authorized to it and subscribe to it in order to see. Your local PBS may well be blocking your viewing it.

Thanks for the info Gary. I never watched this channel much but it was occasionally useful for seeing something I missed on the local PBS station. I don't think I would want to pay extra for it though.
