Although I first thought about how it would be cool to use this to check out the gutters and the antennas on the roof without needing to climb up there with a ladder. Or, get the aerial shot of a Little League game. I wonder what the load capacity is and how long you can fly on a charge. Plus, since it's controlled via Wi-Fi, does that mean it only works around a hotspot? What happens when it ventures beyond the Wi-Fi coverage? Will it go into autonomous mode and land automagically?

My birthday's not for another nine months...

I think this works on a peer to peer wifi network. You can create an ad hoc network on your iphone that the two devices could connect to.
