Paramount is finaly going Blu!

I'm not replacing my HD DVD's but I am glad to see Spiderwick, There Will be Blood, and a few that got dumped when HD DVD folded.

S~

I know at least Aeon Flux, Babel, Black Snake Moan, Disturbia, and Dreamgirls
were already released previously on BD. I guess this means they'll be back in print and more readily available at Netflix and BB. :D

Glad to finally see it. To bad the discs cost so much :haha

Paramount Reactivates Blu-ray Catalog

Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 03:00 PM ET
Tags: Disc Announcements, Paramount (all tags) Following it's official return to Blu-ray yesterday, Paramount has announced plans to re-issue eight previously-discontinued catalog titles on the format in late-May.
On May 20, the studio will bring back to market nearly a dozen titles that had been pulled from store shelves last year following Paramount's move to HD DVD-exclusivity.

No Kidding! Where's Transformers?

Probably still locked up in HD-DVD contract. I would laugh if that was the case. But more likely Michael Bay wants it reencoded using AVC and a much higher bit rate to justify his drunken rants....

Ironicly the last 2 DVDs I bought were There Will be Blood and Cloverfield. 2 movies i'd have paid $40 each to watching on Blu-Ray.

Now that I have them, I may buy TWBB at full retail due to my fanaticism for the director, but we're not re-buying our movie collection so the rest will be too little too late. :(

I think Bee Movie was Dreamworks and it's comming out May 20th.

I am not positive but I think all the May 20th releases, except Bee Movie and Blades of Glory were previously released on BD. I know I have several of them on BD already. Blades of Glory was even originally scheduled but ended up as the first HD-DVD only.

So looks like 2 or 3 new movies for each date. Still good news.

The Digital Bits - Celebrating Film in the Digital Age

[FONT=arial, helvetica, courier, *] All righty then... we're waiting on additional artwork and details from the studio, but we've learned from our sources in the meantime that all of the newly announced Paramount Blu-ray titles will feature Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio, save for the titles originally authored last year (like Face/Off, Next and Blades of Glory). However, we're told that going forward, Dolby TrueHD audio should become a standard feature on the studio's Blu-ray titles as they're newly authored. Also, most of the new titles will be on BD-50 discs and many of the video extras will be in full HD.

We've also learned that many of Paramount's previously released Blu-ray titles will be officially returning to store shelves in May, including
Aeon Flux, Babel, Black Snake Moan, Coming to America, Dreamgirls, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Sleepy Hollow, The Untouchables, Trading Places, We Were Soldiers and World Trade Center (all due on 5/20). You might also recall that the Blades of Glory Blu-ray was yanked right before it was set to be released last year. We'll, it's now finally streeting on 5/20 as well. Here's the cover art we have so far for the new titles - Bee Movie, Face/Off, Next and Blades of Glory...
