Does anyone know how I could get my Pansat 9500HDX to reliably switch a Diseqc switch? I've tried several new (4-port)switches with power off when installing or removing the switch. When I turn the box on it will come up black screen with no signal, even though I turned the unit off on an active channel the night before. Power off the unit(maybe a few times) and it will all of a sudden come up on the channel it should've the first time. I've even tried changing channels or even satellites with no avail. Only power off and back on gets it going. Never drops signal once it get on the correct port and full signal strength. It's like it wakes up stuck on the wrong port and won't send the correct command to switch to the right one. This is a backup unit for me because of this quirk. My Openbox S-10 can be hooked up to the same config. and it wakes up on the correct port and channel. Thanks.

So when you take out the DiSEqC switch it doesn't have this problem? This sounds more like an LNB or cable problem. Bad connection somewhere. The S-10 puts out just a bit more juice and gets around the problem maybe.

I shutoff the Diseqc command between two satellites on the same port. Switched from satellite to satellite and without a port command change, the Pansat or Diseqc switch held onto port #4 even while switching satellites. Is this normal? So like if you get the diseqc switch on port#4 it will stay on port #4 till something commands it to change to port #1?

I'm not sure what you are telling me there  but the DiSEqC switch I use defaults to port #1 when powered off

I bet that is what is going on with mine. It reverts to port #1 even though I'm watching something on port #4 when I power down for the night. Turn everything back on in the morning, my receiver is on a channel on port #4 but my diseqc switch is on port #1.

Are these DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 switches? What DiSEqC setting are you using on the STB, 1.0 or 1.1?

If you have a scope check for issuing DiSEqC commands and signal amplitude at the STB and at the switch. The STB may not be sending the signals or they are weak.

I agree that the switching errors may be a corroded connector or damaged coax. Have you tried a temporary drop?

STBs typically send switch and motor commands when coming out of standby mode or turning on the master power. So when a STB is powered on, the switch path to the current selected satellite is issued.

Got a low cost (used) scope you can recommend?

So many used units on Ebay. You could buy a older high end CRT Tektronix for $100+ (plus $$$$$ for shipping) or a new USB PC model (Hantek) for $75+ or a LCD model for $200 and up. Don't need anything fast or fancy for most satellite bench testing. Some buy the handheld units, but the screens usually are tough to read.

I love my new Owon SDS7102 with the larger hires screen, LAN and capture, but unlikely to find one used. :)

These are Diseqc 1.0 switches all 4-port. Last night when I put the receiver on stand-by I left it on a Port#1 channel. Today when I woke up and turned on the receiver, the channel I had it on came right up like it was supposed to. It don't do this on the other ports when powered down, I usually get a black screen with no signal.
