Dish Farm Up North
Anyone have any idea how to move a 5' mesh or 4' solid dish with a Pansat 2700A? I'm not sure if anyone makes a diseqc actuator that would move a dish of that size!? I have my Pansat slaved to a G.I. 2400R for analog but would prefer to move the dish with the Pansat...........

If you decide to give the VBOX II a shot, it looks like Sadoun will be carrying them:

I haven't seen a US distributor for a DiSEqC actuator, but Cascade had one for a while. This one uses an actuator similar to the one I used on my 5' Winegard (same brand, but mine was regular 36v vs this one being DiSEqC):

Maybe Sadoun will pick up something like this ;).

The one I linked is only for up to a 3' dish, but I'm sure there are heavier duty models.

The low voltage / current of diSEqC might be the limitation on moving a larger dish.

Thanks Shawn, the link you showed is the exact actuator I bought from Cascade last year. I have it hooked up to one of my P* dishes....works dandy, but I'm afraid it won't have the strength to move a 5-footer. I'm thinking I'll end up putting a polar mount on it and a standard actuator having to control it with my 2400R.

I have spoken with the manufacturer of that actuator. The problem with it is that it is too small for bigger dishes. And the voltage that the DiSEqC motors use is not enough for a bigger DiSEqC actuator.

We will keep looking :up

That makes sense. Since you've already got the H to H motors for the 1.2M and smaller dishes it seems a no-brainer to stick with what you've got.

Thanks!

I currently use a V-Box controller with a Traxis receiver to move a 7 foot dish.

Glad to hear that works good for you. I have tried 2 of these units with my pansat and neither of them worked for me, one was DOA and the other kept loosing track of where it was.
