I have a Scientific Atlanta D9234 directly connected to the V side of the P* LNB on my G18 dish. While outside between showers, I was checking all the connectors on the dishes, and this LNB/feed was warm to the touch! Is this the "nature of the beast" when they're constantly powered up, or is this receiver putting out too much voltage? The others don't get warm, but they go through a 4-way diseqc switch so they're not "on" all the time.

I think I've noticed that before , right now I havent got one of those old lnbfs in use. Nor do I have a SA rec to hook up and try , haha. Might be putting out a little much DC, have you tried checking it with your trusty multimeter?

I just got this receiver a couple days ago and I seem to remember an option somewhere in the menus for LNB power 13/18, 19/21 etc. but I can't find it now. Weather not to good here right now but the trusty multimeter is next! I've read here somewhere that LNBs like this don't perform as well on lower voltages, but too high is what I would think would make it run warm. The setup is otherwise running normally. I found LNB drift scale of 0-99 in + or - while searching the menus and it's at +1 so it's pretty much dead nuts-on frequency wise. When I get a voltage reading I'll update. :)

The ol' Fluke multimeter says 18.66 volts. OK for this LNB but still too high, because at this voltage an LNBF would select horizontal. And the receiver is set up for 11720 and 11800 -both are vertical transponders.... (scratching head...)

those lnbfs are funky, if I remember right, you can run them off one port, but it has to be the V=port for the thing to be 'powered'. I know I did that for awhile when I first got started, and didnt have a 3x4 switch. Putting the coax to the H side did nothing no matter how I turned the lnbf. But power the v-side and twist the lnbf enough and you'll get either polarity like you've done.

Actually, I've run either port by itself, and it has worked fine. Once I get my "box-o-multi switches" in from eBay all should be well.
