We are moving and need to do a dish mover and have another question.

How does the dish mover thing work now? We moved 11 years ago and not sure how things have changed.

The other thing is OTA and hooking up to a Hopper with Sling. We are moving to an area where we will be able to get almost every channel with rabbit ears. What is the best tuner add on to hook up the Hopper?

Thanks

Just call up Dish and tell them you're moving; they'll get your new address and schedule an install date/time. No charge.

As far as getting OTA on your Hopper w/Sling, do you already have the OTA adapter? If not, you'll need to buy one. Dish doesn't sell them direct. You can get a dual-tuner OTA adapter on Ebay for $56 free shipping. That's what I did.

Once you have your rabbit ears or antenna set up, just connect it to the OTA adapter, plug the OTA adapter into the Hopper using the USB cable, and it will recognize it. Then, you simply do a channel search and it's done.

Then, you can drop your local channels from your package and save yourself $10 a month (if you want).

Hope that helps :)

To make it more interesting our dvr hard drive just died. So I guess the upgrade to the newer hopper is happening. Also, they said we can't get locals in Indianapolis, Indiana don't know how that is possible but whatever.

Of course you can get Indianapolis locals in HD. They are on the western arc. That is provided your new location is actually in that DMA.

Thanks everyone!

We are moving and upgrading, locals are being added. Took awhile but we got set up with everything.

Hopper3 and Joey 2 is on the way.

Somehow the hard drive started up this morning so I am putting everything on a portable hd.

Again thanks everyone. This is a great site with great people.

If you haven't check out the links for WION, it really is an awesome little station.

Cheers

Well we did it, we moved and did the upgrade to Hopper 3 and the new Joey 2. Our install guy here in Indy did a great job and fixed a couple of mishaps with our situation. Somehow because of the need to exchange the old unit and the dish mover with the upgrade didn't work well with the system. They sent 2 Hopper w Sling to our new address and not the new equipment, but Lucas did a great job and checked and double checked to make sure that all the equipment was accounted for and returned to the office.

Now to get the new unit set up the way we like and get the stereo all working.

Things are looking up!

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
