a friend of mine just got the dish vip 211 receiver but wants to get an antenna for his ota locals. can someone reccomend a good antenna to get for him?

Just inputting your zip code, antennaweb.org shows NO digitals. But by moving around a bit I found 11.1 FOX and 8.1 ABC both are on UHF frequencies and less than 25 miles from you to the northwest.

I must presume you are in a hilly area, because the transmission distance is so limited.

I would get a Channel Master 4228 with a CM7777 or CM7775 preamplifier, and mount it as high as I could. This is your best chance.
