OT:

I think a lot of these jerks that post about stealing stuff mostly like the attention. The one yesterday was an example. He obviously was able to write, and I believe he knew exactly what to expect.. He also went out of his way to mention our Mod's name!

All you have to do is hang out here for a few days (which I presume most do before they post) and it is obvious that this is a legit group!

Now some of the ones on the FTA forum are just plain dumb. (They cannot even write (my typing is really poor so I should not be casting stones). They try to discuise their intentions, and I must admit (even though I have been into FTA less than a year) some of the attempts are really funny. In fact if I can sniff them out...they must be pretty obvious....C band...another story. been around this stuff too long!

Some of the FTA jerks have even PM'd me, and I am a relative Noob!

I was looking around at some other fta forums not too long ago... and discovered a few of the hacker sites... just reading around, it seems that Dish has started changing their encryption methods a lot and that's knocking hacker wannabes (should really call them fta script kiddies more than hackers) in the black, so they are starting to expand their horizons to look on to other forums. In those attempts, I think some of them are visiting this and other legit sites... possibly making them even think about going totally legit with legal fta... which raises a question, should bans be for life? That's sort of like saying someone who's speeded in the past should never be allowed to have their license. I understand why we want to ban them from legit sites - don't want no hack talk round these parts, but what about those few who make ammends and try to go legit and then get banned - kinda probably puts a bad taste in their mouths for those do-gooders that follow the laws of the lands... just something to think about.

The reason they are banned from legit sites is because they ask how to steal. If you read the posts, all the people banned want to steal and ask the "right" questions. We've had plenty of threads on this issue and we have had posted the "signs" of a stealer (1st post, vague info, using smiley icons, etc)

They ask "is there a fix" or something like that. We don't tolerate it here. There are plenty of other boards to deal with them stealers. We aren't one here. It has been that way since day one. And with the admin having a good relationship with Dish I don't think he wants to lose that because of some idiot asking how to steal and we treat them like we don't care. Because we DO care about the legal aspect of free to air. We give all newbies a chance to enjoy this hobby. But don't ask me how to steal.

Are there people who use to steal that are now legal on this board? yes
Are there people who did steal (but can't now because Dish & Bell nuked them)? yes

Have we banned someone and later did an undo because they are legal? yes
Do we do it often? no

never condone someone taking what does not belong to them...like shop lifting.

I remember when cable and HBO came into being...the idea of paying for TV,,,absurd! My how things change. I for one would never pay the ridiculous prices the Pizza guys charge and for inferior PQ, and poor programming to boot...cable...forget it.

My position is to stay with C band + HDD200 for HD and a couple of premium subs + FTA

If it ever gets out of hand like the pizza stuff..i simply will not buy the services and resort to renting DVD's and FTA. (Just the 60's in me I guess)...would be different if the content were worth it....Bleh) That is one reason I went with FTA...lots of different content and retro stuff...Price is right too! BTW: have not watched local ota in years other than to watch the PBS HD broadcasts!


I have recently dumped a load of credit cards, long distance service (use the cell phone instead), extras on my phone like call forwarding, waiting, etc as well as putting my pellet stove into service for heating instead of just for astethics...saving a ton and no more rip offs. Makes me feel good too!

I loved those letters "we are changing your service agreement" I stop there and call them to change the agreements for them CANCEL! Then they always try to talk you out of it.

Even banks are scamming these days. I love those insurance policies they sell you to protect you against fraud...of course liability is $50 per card under federal law anyway! Forgeries...ARE THE BANK'S PROBLEM!

Still no tolerence for theivery though...was brought up that way...do it once and most will do it again if they think they can get it on! same thing in the casino business I came out of...we always pressed charges!
