I was looking for info on the difference between PS and TS when recording for playback on my S9 receivers?? Here is what I found.

.ps (MPEG Program Stream) -> One channel and the pids needed for that channel.
.ts (MPEG Transport Stream) -> Multiple channels and all the pids in the mux.

Not much of an explanation so does anyone know if there is an advantage to either of these formats? I've been recording in TS mode since I got this receiver but have no idea why or if it's better than PS mode.

Any help?

Thanks

PS will consume less HDD. (as it only records the program you're interested in and not the whole mux) Both ways has always worked for me when converting to other types(AVI, mpg or mpg4 or to a dvd.
NOTE: h-264 will only record in TS mode.

Thanks Fat. I guess it's best to just continue to use TS mode then since PS won't do H264 and I've got plenty of hard drive to store the stuff on.
