Trying to setup and view a signal on the new Openbox I just got but not having any luck so far.

I am able to view the menus but when I go into Installation the only selections I can access are "Antenna and Satellite Quick Setting" and "Satellite List", the others (Antenna Setup, Single Sat Search, Multi Sat Search, TP List & Other) are all "grayed-out", so I can't select them.

When I try to exit the menus I get a "No Channel!" message on the screen, and the display on the receiver front always shows "NoCH" after it boots up.

Just wanting to use it as a slave, no motor control, it is piggybacked on a CS6000 now.

What am I missing here?

now my memory is foggy but when I had the opensat/sathawk you have to go into the sat list and select which satellites you want to use first...then back out and go into the antenna setup

The antenna setup will only list the sats you selected before..

Your foggy memory is pretty darn good, thanks Ice. ;)

I'm off and running!

You are going to LOVE this receiver! Just wait until you see the HD channels.

Ice is correct, you must first select the satellites and then set them up.

I just have it hooked to an old CRT here in the mancave but I definitely like what I see so far, hope to get sometime to play with and learn this unit, soon. :)

Got a few minutes to play this evening so I scanned in the PBS channels @ 125W. I was able to get the S2 OETA video (w/motorized 90cm Fortec), but no audio on any of the AC-3 channels.

I am using RCA composite cables from receiver to (NTSC CRT) tv, does the Openbox output decoded AC-3 audio on the composite outputs?

Thanks, Brent.

I switched the audio setting to BS OUT, but that didn't help.

My fw is: HDS2-10-10-03:1441.

Can you tell by looking if that is older/newer than the latst on Sadoun's site?

I am using RCA cables from the Openbox to a freq agile NTSC modulator. (To feed multiple TV's) TV System, Digital Audio out is set to LPCM Out. Getting audio no matter what type of audio. mpeg, aac, ac3.

I'm running the HDS2-10-09-27:0836 firmware dated 9/27/2010 and it works fine using the RCA cables to an old TV. Consider backing up your channels and setup, and installing this version.
:)

Not that I had much stuff setup yet on this box but I dumped everything to USB in preparation to upgrading the fw.

In that process I guess I fat-fingered the V. Format button, rolling screen ensues. Wasn't able to cure that with a slow cycling of the V. Format button but was able to get into the TV System menu and fix it.

Now I have "No OSD Show, Press V.Format Key to Switch" on the screen. If I press the V. Format button I think it will bring back the screen roll, but I can't access the menus with this message on the screen to try and do anything else. Any ideas?

Ok, I was able to access the menu in one of the rolling screen video formats (576P?) and performed a master reset, good to go now.

Actually scanned in the LPB stations on 125W, that may be a first for me on the 90cm Fortec.

Now will begin the hunt for newer fw to see if I can cure the AC-3 on composite issue. :)
