So I'm watching the Tigers and end up losing signal with heavy rain so I pulled up the radar and had a giant red box around me.
Flip to my OTA local and turns out I'm smack in the middle of a tornado warning. Now I'm watching from my basement, so no big alarm,
but I did go upstairs to close some doors, etc.

Two thoughts - losing signal isn't necessarily a bad thing, though without an antenna I wouldn't have been able to check my locals with the signal loss.
Second - reminds me of a funny ad that Charter (smaller cable company) runs on the local channels here:

The satellite dish - the worlds most sensitive weather vane is this unattractive dish here....

Yup, I agree .

When the few times the dish signal does go out, I get up and head outside to see if theres anything I need to pick up before the storm gets here.

Seeing the weather around here usually comes from the SW, same direction as my dish, I know that if it goes out , were in for some serious weather.

Normally, the signal is back in a few minutes and fine when the weather does get here.
