I know somewhere in all of these posts there is something about OLN in HD. I came across something, somewhere about OLN being broadcast in HD and was wondering why it hasn't been mentioned being in the the new HD packaging. If it has been talked about, I apologize but I thought it would be a nice addition to the HD programming. Thanks

Dish yanked OLN out of the America's 180 package several months ago, and no longer carries OLN. So unless Dish settles the OLN dispute, I don't see OLN HD anytime soon.

And if Dish doesn't settle soon, I'll be leaving Dish. Dish remmoved OLN suddenly over a dispute on carrying Hockey, and instead of offering the subscribers some sort of compensation, they raised the prices. Great customer service.

Yes, I'm going to an Auto Race next month. Coverage is on OLN.

So, "Mr. Spent $2000+ on E* Equipment in the Last 24-Months" (That would be me) gets to ask "Mr. Basic Cable Brother in Law" to TAPE it for him.

Better TV for all. Except maybe you.

Only two events I watched with regularity on OLN:

The Dakar rally in early January.

The Iditarod in March.

I'm a nine year E* customer and the loss of OLN right before these major race/survival tests really makes me question my next programming move. (that and the upgrade options presented for HD)...

I watch some different stuff. Tour de France and America's Cup. Whole family was looking forward to OLN Hockey this year, but Comcast blacked out hockey to Dish, and Dish completely pulled the plug.

Well, there is always cable for DirecTV....

I had forgotten that OLN was pulled because of hockey. I like to watch the Tour and the Dakar but had forgotten that hockey was even back. Good station lost just because of hockey.

OLN does not have an HD channel available to satellite subs. Some OLN hockey games are simulcast on the INHD channel which is only available to cable subs (in some areas).

OLN hockey broadcasts are substandard fare anyway. The sound stinks. The picture stinks. The announcers are not very good. And the post-game sucks. That said, I love hockey and I'm all too happy to give them another chance at some point if Dish picks them up. And yes, Dish sucks for putting them in the Top 180 tier. Should have been T120. But that's about the only place Dish is guilty when it comes to OLN- OLN reneged on programming agreement with Dish and that's why they got dropped.

Side note- if you want HD hockey (NHL)-

1) Center Ice package- Dish Network has one game in a week in HD from the package on channel 9467- sometimes two.

2) HDNET. God bless Mark Cuban for knowing that hockey needs to be in HD. Very good coverage on that channel.

3) NBC OTA- 3 games on Saturdays. If the first game in those 3 games is the one in your region, then it is in HD. The other 2 games are SD. Col/Det was shown in my area today and that was in HD.

The sometimes none HD games that OLN does in a week are available on DirecTV in HD.

So whenever an HD game from OLN is shown on InDemand (I think I am getting this confused with INHD), DirectTV has that same feed shown on one of their channels? Or does DirecTV do something different like just randomly select games they know have an HD feed for from OLN (and would not require CI)?

DirecTV also has FSNHD which is nice. Too bad they have no new HD content on the horizon tho. They talk a lot. But after CES it's pretty easy to see that Dish is the leader in HD content. Not trying to pump Dish up- I am not naive. Just that DirecTV talks a LOT and really hasn't done much recently.

I don't know about InDemand or INHD and the NHL. The OLN Produced HD games are on DirecTV and not a pert of NHL Center Ice.

The FSNHD they talk about is likely the referring to the HD game telecasts of all of the FSNs, There are NHL Center Ice HD games on DirecTV and DiSH Network, most of which are likely a FSNHD production from one of the RSNs.

It is the Outdoor channel not to be confused with OLN that has a HD channel coming soon, I think they are going to call it Outdoor Channel 2HD, if I am not mistaken. I can not remember the links but I have read this from several sources, but it has bean a month or two since I have seen this mentioned.

Sounds like when I get to work late and leave early to make up for it. :)

Visually, HDNet's coverage is great, but the commentators are horrible. The "Sights & Sounds"??!! After watching Avs/Wings on NBC, I was reminded what good hockey commentary sounds like.

Ok, ya got me there. Their announcers are not that great. And I am pretty spoiled from listening to Bob Miller call the Kings all these years.

only odd transponders comming in???
