I know very little about sateilite tv, but I just had Directv HD installed in my house. I had an old Direct dish that was my Dad's about 6 or 7 years ago. When I was talking to the installer, he said it would work on my motorhome and I could just take one of the standard reciever boxes from a bedroom and use it in the motorhome. So, in a hurry to try this, I grabbed a tripod mount the old dish and a reciever and headed off to Arizonia from California. I couldn't get any signal to read on the tv through the receiver, even when I pointed the dish in the same direction as other people. Is my LNB (new term I just learned) bad??? The old dish I was told only has 1 LNB. The receivers are Directv standard reciever Model number D12NC-100. Is there a way to test the dish. I don't have any fancy test equip. Thanks JVB

I could be a bad lnb, or bad cabling, or maybe you didn't have the dish pointed correctly. The satellites are 22,300 miles away and about the size of a school bus.

I am asuming that when I go to dishfinder.com that I set it for Directv 101??? Actually says 101.1 directv4s
