Although a little premature, here is an interesting little tidbit I just pulled from Stassen.com - Ohio State is a dismal (or make that abysmal) 3-10-1, with 7 straight losses, versus SEC Teams. Personally, I was rather surprised to see how poorly they fared since they are usually well-prepared. If they win their next two games (big IF), history does not favor OSU should they do battle with LSU in the BCS Championship game.

LMAO! Bad day in the Big House. I'm a Big Ten man, but I don't see OSU beating LSU, hell I'm not so sure they'll get past Michigan in two weeks.

As a Buckeye fan, let me say three things to put that in perspective:

1) most of our abysmal record against the SEC in bowl games was when John Cooper was at the helm; given his record against Michigan and in bowl games were huge failures, Ohio State would have a horrible record against any conference during that time!

2) I am not overly confident that Ohio State will win this year @ Michigan, so it may be a moot point, but...

3) LSU is not exactly the most impressive team that I have seen this year, they sure don't look invincible and they had better focus on taking care of their own business; sorry Flynn and Hester are not exactly awe inspiring athletes and the vaunted defense looks very ordinary recently...

LSU has to get there first.

The 1-1-96 loss was total crap. The field was icy and the Buckeyes were slipping all over the place while Tennesee players were making cutbacks etc. In the 3rd Qtr Cooper contested the shoes that the Vols were wearing. After measuring by the officials it was indeed true that TENESSEE WAS CHEATING by using cleats that were illegal. Nothing was done about it except maybe a 10-15 yd penalty.

That is why I will NEVER root for the Vols, a bunch of cheats.

Right! They both have to get there first! And, as we have already witnessed this season, it probably won't be easy -- Neither team really looks as if they are invisible and, quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them fall. I'm not really sure about LSU's schedule but I do know that the thing that scares me most for Ohio State is facing Michigan. I'd kind of like to see Ohio State and Oregon.

good night, what has OSU done but won this year, why do people hate my bucks? I am so confused, this team has done nothing but EXCEED expectations....and been very respectful yet people attack them like crazy.

I love my Bucks, but its the SEC Speed, The SEC Speed, The SEC Speed!!!!!!! You see the the whole Big Ten is just sooooo slooooow we can not even keep up with the waterboys from the SEC!

Didn't look like such a tough schedule now does it ?

Miss St, Middle Tennesee, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi and normally Kentucky.

Now thats a whole lot tougher than the schedule that OSU played this year ???

Gee, thats what they said about our NC game against Miami too.

I really don't think we are that slow.
You think that Chris Wells is too slow to play in the SEC, ask M from last year.
Hartline is fast and Roy Small is faster.

The D* is fast , bring on the Big BAD SEC.

Jimbo

To be honest, I have not been completely impressed with LSU this season, but I do see them winning out their season. OSU has been better than I expected. They were just in two conference battles with Penn State and Wisconsin and managed to break-out their "A" game in the 3rd and 4th quarters. This is a sign of a well-coached team. I do like Michigan's chance of cracking the nuts this year at home. They are loaded on offense, and the defense finally decided to show up after being missing-in-action for the first two weeks of the season. However, the two big question marks are:

- Will Hart and Henne be healthy?

Let's face it...if Hart cannot play then OSU can focus on rushing the QB - game over. If Hart and Henne are 80% of better they can keep the OSU defense off-balance between the running game and Manningham's deep threat. I just don't see Mallett being capable of leading the team to victory. I know Mallett is just a freshman, but this kid reminds me of Jetho Bodine each time I see him giggling and acting the fool.

- Does Tressel have Carr's number?

Just like Cooper couldn't beat Michigan, OSU cannot complete against the SEC, and Carr owning JoPa, does Tressel have Lloyd Carr's number? It sure seems like the vested virtuoso keeps a copy of the Michigan play book in his hip pocket. You can't become the man until you beat the man.

An even better question is will both teams come to the game healthy after tough conference battles with Illinois and Wisconsin?

I love my Bucks, but its the SEC Speed, The SEC Speed, The SEC Speed!!!!!!! You see the the whole Big Ten is just sooooo slooooow we can not even keep up with the waterboys from the SEC!
I don't buy it...can you explain Michigan's 12-4-1 record versus SEC teams...were these games played in knee-high grass or on a frozen tundra?

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm dosent ohio state have the number one defense? dont they have one of the top offenses? how does michigan compare to that? and this is your defense showing up? lets not count that notre dame game as they are nothing but high schoolers

see that not one team over twenty, and alot of the 17 had one or two JUNK touhchdowns against the second string unlike teams coming right out of the gate on michigan....gimmie a break guys, I am not saying Michigan is a bad team, but at this point they way they are playing they are nothing more then another highlight page on a national championship book for OSU (am I getting carried away here :) ) oh and for your enjoyment, the front page of yahoo sports this morning :) perfect timing

Buckeyes against a nation - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports

By the way dont you know that OSU has the most passionate fans, if we were 0-12 for the season we would still believe we could beat michingan and deserve a shot in the national championship....but also my facts stand for themselves this year.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm a MICHIGAN MAN. You should know that by now.:D

I think you miss understood my meaning. I am fedup with the talk about their speed and like the Big Ten has no speed. Even though he is gone, I guess Ted Ginn was slow of foot compared to the SEC guys!

Nobody is arguing that OSU isn't deserving of it's #1 ranking---certainly not me---since it is well-deserved at this stage of the season. Now, as far as OSU having the most passionate fans...P-L-E-A-S-E!!! Although I indeed bleed Maize & Blue (UM Alums and a family member on this years team), I have been to Florida-Georgia, Florida State-Miami (FL), and Alabama-Auburn games while I was stationed down South. I can assure you...these people are just as passionate about their teams as anyone from Michigan or OSU.

Speaking of the word passionate...with the exception of a year or two back in the mid-90s (Tennessee), Michigan has been the undisputed attendance leader for the past 35+ seasons. It sounds like the Michigan fans are just a little more passionate about their football team than the OSU types. Of course, if you replace "passionate" with the word "maniacal" then you are correct...."OSU has the most maniacal fans" and their petty hatred and jealousy of Michigan shows.:(

Anyway, I believe your "if we were 0-12" statement pretty much captures why OSU falls flat on their arses in post season competition with the SEC. You guys are so obsessed with Michigan, everything else is pale in comparison. The sad fact is that Ohio State is just another game for the Winningest (#1 in both wins and winning percentage), Most-Storied program in college football history.

Q: What do Notre Dame, Ohio State, and every other team in the Big Ten conference have in common?
A: Michigan! It is their biggest game of the year...but just another game on the Maize & Blue schedule.

Back to the original post of Ohio State's embarrassing performance against, and repeated beat-downs by, the SEC...well, I apologize for upsetting you with facts.

Unfortunately, on paper the Buckeyes should win this one by 10-point...it's a good thing they play on turf and not paper! I sure hope Coach Cooper speaks at the pep rally.

Roy Small is as fast or faster than Ted Ginn and he's only a sophomore :)

SEC is #1 and until someone else wins the title, it is all talk.
