Odd HR34/700 issue with no picture or sound

This seems to happen fairly infrequently but seemed to happen more today...

When I turn on my TV and my receiver, there is no picture or sound. I can go through the guide and the channel banner is there but there's no picture or sound. If I flip back and forth between channels, it sometimes resolves it. Also, if I leave it on a channel with no picture or sound for awhile, and I change the channel, the channel banner comes back, but almost like a slow fade-in. Also, sometimes the channel banner will fade-in again if I leave it on a no picture/sound channel for a little bit. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what channels it's doing this on.

Is this something common?

I'm sure it's not common. Very uneducated guess is your Genie is on the way out. I'd call it in to Directv.

Not common at all, sounds like the hardware is fritz'd.

My HR34 has occasional handshake issues with my Mits DLP, usually after changing the channels... I power off & on and it is resolved ...
