As you might have noticed our automated Dish Network Uplink Report has not been outputing 100% accurate reports over the last few weeks.

The reason for this is due to the fact that Dish Network has started duplicating channels from 110/119 to 61.5 as they get ready to roll out their new all MPEG4 service which we here at SatelliteGuys refer to as the "Eastern Arc" service.

When they add them to 61.5 even though they are still available on their origional location our software has been removing them because the software we capture the data with can not handle the duplicate entries.

While Digiblur has been working hard to fix the issue, the true problem lies within the datstream capture software we are using. At this time it does not appear the issue will be fixed, however the problem should go away when Dish Network officially turns on the new Eastern Arc Service for customers.

We have been lucky enough to have the godfather of uplink reports John H lend us his corrections over the past few weeks and thank him for his assistance. John still does his reports the old fashioned way... by hand. :)

We apologize for the issue and thank you for your patience in this matter.

Hey Scott I know you don't know for sure, but can you give us some approximate timeline as to when you thing Dish will turn on the Eastern Arc i.e. all MPEG4 service using 61.5. Do you think it will happen in a month or 3 months, six months or more. Just your best guess, becuase obviosly your best guess is a whole lot better than 99% of us here who read Satelliteguy.

Thanks

so the biggest problem with the report is that it "removes" channels from locations that really don't get moved. I think we can all ignore the REMOVES as we are really only interested in the ADDS

The only parts I do by hand most of the time are click on the doit button and then, about 5 minutes later, copy and past the results into a thread. As Scott mentioned, they have thrown some curves lately. :D

The problem with that is the ADDS may not actually have the correct channel name. Same with the AVAILs.

Scott and Digi, you have absolutely nothing for which to apologize. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the many who greatly appreciate your efforts and enjoy clicking on the report links as soon as they are posted. The last several months have been exciting (both up and down) for those of us who anxiously await, and have a hunger for, more HD. This site and this report have been the best source to both feed the hunger and generate more anticipation. Can't wait for the report later today...

From what I hear it is scheduled to go live for new customers on May 31st. This of course is subject to change. :)

Sorry to drift off subject, but I'm currious. Does Dish have any SD recievers that are MPEG4? The only reason I ask is because I have 61.5 for my HD & 622, but my other 2 recievers are 311's that will, of course, still use 110 / 119. They are not connected to HD tv's so I'd hate to have to get HD recievers for them to be able to utilize the "Eastern Arc" through out the house...

Thanks for the response & that sounds about right, I think I remember back when some of the new HD came on in MPEG2, they were flagged as ViP only... Maybe I should have worded my question "Is there a VIP that is SD only, or are they all HD"

Don't all the ViP receivers also have SD outputs?

Scott, what does "new" customers mean?

They are going to start the plan with non-existing subs in order to keep down the number of service calls to install wing dishes. At least that's what I've heard. I don't know when they'd make it available to existing subs. Maybe "soon"?

I don't see why you can't leave the app running.. yeah we'll get a bit to much info with the additions and deletions.. maybe for the short term just filter out the duplicate channels (meaning don't show anything for them) at least then we'll see the other stuff that's going on like new additions :)
