I have been paying attention to the Hd promo's for us existing HD customers. Whats the Promo for long time existing customer but never been a HD customer? Same $299 with $200 rebate for the 622? My dad has a 510 lease and is ready for HD.

Existing customer HD upgrades are treated the same as new customer upgrades. $299 upgrade fee to lease the 622, $49 upgrade fee to lease the 211. No rebate unless you turn in an owned 921/942 for a 622. 18 month committment, and of course the higher HD package fees, DVR fees, etc.

I have often wondered about the "Owned" requirement, not much is said about that on the forums. Can you clarify this?

I don't think that is right. I'm almost positive that leased 942s can be turned in for the $200 rebate as well.

I've been listening to see if Dish was qualifying the 921/942 rebate during the last two chats and they never stated that it had to be owned. They said that subs with a 921 or 942 would be eligible for the $200 rebate.

Of course, they never stated that it could be owned or leased either.

I think E* wants to somehow compensate those who ponied-up big $$ to lease their 921s/942s not so long ago hence the upgrade lease deal, to avoid complaints from those customers. If you own a 921/942, you could also turn that one in for the same "deal", but why would you as long as those units are still worth more on the open market, like eBay...!

I tend to agree with you on this one (at least I hope that is the case). Until someone points to something that says differently I'm going with that assumption.

So Is 2 new HD boxes a lost cause?
