Haven't listened to my BCD996XT in several month. Yesterday I saw fire trucks roll through my neighborhood and I decided to turn the scanner on. Everything I listen to is on the Palmetto 800 P25 radio system here in Columbia SC. As luck would have it I heard nothing. The display indicates that it is scanning but no cigar on hearing anything. I manually entered the National Weather Service at 162.40 and this came in clear as a bell. FM radio works too. While manually scanning through the 800 MHz band I can hear the motorboat sound on certain frequencies. Would reprogramming the scanner help, change any settings maybe, or do I need to send it in for repair?

Thanks for any help or advice.........

Maybe they changed the control channel frequency? On RadioReference it shows that there was an update today, but I don't know what changed.

I think your best bet would be to check to make sure all your frequencies are up to date.

Time to reprogram Frank, all frequencies changed. Had to do the same here in TR.
Yep, already done. I had to move my antenna and reprogram, scanning like before. I was concerned that they had encrypted the frequencies or went to APCO 25 Phase 2.
