Canton, Oh
Well FedEx finally brought my first FTA system yesterday and I spent a couple of hours putting it up and getting it set up on IA5....I get signal strength from 45% to 70% I am assuming that has to do with transponder strength since I get a solid picture on all channels (110+ tv channels). I was surprised how easy it was to set up (would have been easer if I would have had a taller step ladder). The next thing I want to do is get a couple more dishes and a DiSeQc switch and hit some other sat's.

FYI - system stats
Fortec star lifetime classic NA
36" fortec dish
.04 deg Lnbf

I had thought about putting up a motor....my problem is trees. I can get more satellites with multiple dishes in different locations than I can with a motor. That being said I am slowly getting the majority of the trees cut down and then I am going to get a 10ft motorized dish with c/ku (possibly 4Dtv) and FTA slaved to it.

Steve

Some transponders on that satellite are weak. Really depends on TP power. Also, if you notice the difference in picture quality. Some of the pictures look worse than a movie you would play on your computer

Congratulations on your new setup.

I would also recommend a motor. But, if you have the room, you can certainly use multiple dishes. A C/KU band dish will be a nice addition.

I noticed that on a couple of channels...I figured that it was poor source material...I did like the Bollywood stuff though. The sad thing is that some channels look better on FTA than my D*. I am really liking this, it is like my old C-band days...I did notice that I got more channels when I did the super search about 20 extra channels on the second search.

fortunately I have a huge yard and can place several dishes (I will probably end up with 4 dishes on this receiver) - I noticed that you have multiple dishes/LNBF for a good price on your site...which is where I got this setup.

If you get multiple dishes at once, you save on shipping. I did that a while back. Got 2 36" dishes/LNB's

To save on shipping multiple dishes, we ship

4x 80cm Dishes/LNBFs in one box
2x 90CM Dishes/LNBFs in one box
2x 100CM Dishes/LNBFs in one box (pretty heavy - it goes freight)
