Is it normal for recordings to be PCM stereo, even though the original broadcasts were DD5.1? Is this a limit of Dish DVR's in general, or just Hopper?
That is not normal at all. All of my recordings that should be 5.1 are 5.1.
What would "properly set" be? There are only three audio settings that I am aware of decoder, leveling, and mode, which are all set for optimum audio. But, there is nothing DVR-specific. I get LiveTV in DD5.1, when available. Just no DVR recordings in DD5.1.Do you have it properly set in the DVR? I either get 5.1 or every now and then 2 channel.
I just looked at the manual.
I use:
Dolby/PCM
Sound Leveling Off
That is what Volume Leveling does.Line vs RF is really stupid. They should just say Dynamic Range Compression ON or OFF.
That is what Volume Leveling does.
Judging from others' experiences, I think my Hopper audio may be borked.
I really hate getting a replacement because of the danger of losing recordings during transfer.
But, this audio thing is annoying. Perhaps I'll wait until the next SW update, and see if that helps, before going the replacement route.
I know. And, your audio appears to be working normally, which is why mine may be fugazy.Gary,
You and I are on the same software....
