Does NBC ever broadcast anteing in HD 16:9 format on AMC1 TP 9 ( http://www.lyngsat.com/amc1.html )? So far everything I've seen was in 4:3 752x512 resolution (though 4:2:2 - better color than standard 4:2:0 I suppose; not that I can tell the difference on my setup...) Even shows that I know for a fact were broadcast in 16:9 (watched them simultaniously on OTA HD) were shown in 4x3 on AMC1.

Also - the NBC signal on AMC1 seems VERY bad. A lot of artifacts and hissing sound - as if a good chunk of video and some audio data was getting lost. It is somewhat strange because I get a good quality satellite signal and CPU usage does not go over 30 %. Is this what others are experiencing as well? Or is it a matter of how well / bad my decoders do with 4:2:2? I get the same results with both Elecard (multiple versions including 2.1.4921 ) and BitControl 1.3 MPEG 2 decoders.

Thanks,
Michael

PS sorry for duplicate post; but my questions got burried deep inside another thread nad I doubt anybody even swa them :)

Michael,

I don't think they carry the HD broadcast on AMC1. From what I've read, about the only HD on KU is PBS. It's been a while since I played with 4:2:2, but I don't remember having the hissing sound. I think I did have more artifacts than normal though. If I get a chance, I'll try pulling in NBC and see what kind of results I get.

Thank you for your reply. The hissing sound only happens on occasion (perhaps when DVBDream doesn't startup right?) but the artifacts are always there. Pretty bad, too. I don't get artifacts on any other channel - not even PBS HD, which comes in as clear as it does when I pick it up OTA.

Thanks again,
Michael
