Not that you should have to, but it’s possible to completely reset your Gemini Air to its original settings. This lets you set it up completely from scratch. That’s a good choice if you’re giving it to someone else or if it’s really misbehaving.
Take a look at the image at top. It shows the underside of the Gemini Air. There’s a small reset button on it. Here are the steps you’ll need to take:

It’s very rare to have any problems with a Gemini Air at all. If it does seem like it’s frozen, pressing that reset button quickly usually solves them. But if there is a point where it seems really stuck, a factory reset will usually do the trick.
It’s more common to see this if you are giving the device to someone else. In most cases, the Gemini Air is considered owned, not leased like other DIRECTV devices. So, once you erase everything on your Gemini Air, you can give it to someone else. Erasing everything on it is part of the process of that factory reset.

Here’s the easy way to do it
Take a look at the image at top. It shows the underside of the Gemini Air. There’s a small reset button on it. Here are the steps you’ll need to take:
- Make sure the Gemini Air is connected to power and to a TV. The light on the Gemini Air should be on, although it doesn’t really matter what color it is.
- Press and hold that reset button for at least 30 seconds.
- You should see the TV screen turn black for a while then you’ll see the DIRECTV bootup screen, which I’ll show below.
- Once you see that screen you can unplug the Gemini Air and it will set up from scratch. Or, if you’re ready to do the setup, you can continue at that point.
