All the channels are listed on transponder 30 at 61.5. Will we likely only see 3 NHL and 3 NBA games at the most when both leagues are into the regular season? I am hoping Dish has additional transponders they can have for more games, I see some nights in the NHL where there are 5 games in HD. And that's not counting missing MSG-HD, FSN-NY HD and NESN HD telecasts that we can't get yet.

Transponder 30 at 61.5° is where the "Dish HD" slate lives. When games come on the channels move around in the sky. There are up to 5 HD channels (in the 5700 block--never directly available to subscribers called HDSKD) specifically set aside for HD events. Dish just redirects the HD NHL and HD NBA channels to these exactly the same way they do for the regular games on the SKDL channels in the same channel range.

See the 5000 channel range at Dish Network Channel Chart (Unofficial)

but those 5 channels all say TP 30, so the most we can get is 5 games split/b/w both packages? Oh man not good.

You need to understand the reply. The HD slate is on transponder 30 with all the channels showing the same slate so it is only one channel as far as bandwidth is concerned and since nothing is really showing on it, I'm betting it is not even the full bandwidth you would see on any channel. The actual program is on another transponder. When an HD game is shown, the approapriate channel is redirected to the channel number you are watching.

you're getting everything ehren

on 61.5 they have 5 source channels for hd sports events, all on tp 30

If we were talking about 129° then there are 8 source channels on tp 8 and 27. So, technically there are 13 total HD source channels. Unlike the other HD channels, these are not mirrored. You just need to get both 61.5° and 129° to get them all!

Shouldn't minimum amount of HD content be mandated?

Bug fix for FreeAgent External HD in the 622?
