Nflhd

I just watched the replay of the Tampa Bay game, and it was broadcast in HD.

I will admit it was the FIRST thing I have seen in HD on NFL-HD since it started.

But I think they will get better once the regular season starts. They are scheduled to broadcast 75 reairs of regular season games; and I suspect (or perhaps hope) that they will be mostly in HD. Since they should be coming from original CBS/NBC/FOX/ESPN feeds.

When National Geographic HD started, the first month seemed to be almost all SD upconverts, but now the channels shows a LOT more HD; at least everytime I watch it lately it is 95% in HD. I suspect we'll see an evolution of the same in NFL-HD

The only thing that runs counter to it is the fact that they have a HUGE library of NFL film, almost all of which was done in SD.

Last night I watched thr Jets- Falcons game in HD. Flipping channels this morning, I turned that game on, at NFLHD; and it was in SD. Now I see the Giants-Ravens game is in HD.

Guess in is hit or miss.

Another one I don't understand, with all the HD games is HBO's "Inside the NFL" not being in HD.

I think a lot of it depends on the amount of HD that HBO is receiving for its material to use in the show. If most of the video they are getting is in SD, then broadcasting the show in HD may not make sense, but even when it is in 4:3, the picture still rocks compared with the SD feed.

This is similar to the issue about the NFL Films stuff. As I said earlier, I am pretty sure that all of the historical stuff NFL network has causes them to broadcast so much of the non-games in upconverted 4:3.
