Agreed, but I don’t know how they could guarantee this under the current playoff format. They re-seed after the Wildcard round.

I believe that it was Peter King who said that the Monday winner would definitely play on the following Sunday. It’s not hard coded anywhere that I’m aware of what seed hosts on what day in round two.

Also, there’s the additional rest two teams who would have played on Saturday will now get by playing on Monday. With only one bye week and an added game, this has to be attractive to most teams….

Okay, so they won’t announce the divisional round schedule (what day the # 1 seeds will be playing) until after the wildcard round. This makes sense then.

I like how the articles are bemoaning letting Brady go and what a mistake it was... when the Patriots issues aren't the QB. Look, Brady wanted money. He wasn't going to get that level of commitment from New England and the rest of the team wasn't good enough to justify that commitment to Brady. So enough. Brady and the Pats were no longer a good match. Brady is doing better now at Tampa than he would have done in New England right now.

Mac Jones' issue yesterday was protection. But he didn't look like he ever gave up, which again is important. The rest of the Patriots on offense? Jones' led the Patriots in rushing yesterday... and he didn't have a lot of yards! Could be a long season for New England... but we are better than the Jets, which is good enough for me.

The Patriots put themselves in cap hell to win the Super Bowl in 2018. It was time to pay the piper in 19&20. Tom Brady wanted no part of that and decided to pick a ready made team. That was his decision. Bucs paid his 2y/50mil. The Patriots would’ve paid him that, but before free agency started he announced he wouldn’t be resigning. He left, they didn’t tell him to go.

I loved Tom Brady and will love him again once he’s retired. But, this week he is the enemy. I think a lot of outsiders are going to be surprised at how he’s going to be received this Sunday. It will be respectful and appreciative but not a love fest. His dad made sure of that.

How many years did Brady take LESS than most Qb's would so that they would have money for others ????

Your Dynasty was built because Brady wasn't a "I want my Money" type of person.

Yes, you still have to pay him, but he took way less during most of his career.

(Fwiw, a lot of QB's do that ... at least the ones that win )

Looking at his stats, and I noticed something interesting. He fumbled the ball once in his career... and that was his first season. So 253 total touches, 1 fumble. The record is, oddly enough 253.5, but the player needs 1000+ touches.

I don't think they were a good pairing at this point. I would have liked Brady to have stayed, but the Pats were passing their expiration date, and why spend a fortune on Brady when you weren't going to have the talent (or monitoring devices) available to justify the payout?

It'll be a love fest. Tom Brady won 6 Super Bowls with the Patriots, including icing a team that thought they were about to become a dynasty. Let me say that again, 6! The Patriots were almost in the Super Bowl as often as not under his leadership! That is a level of success that has been impossible in the NFL in the Super Bowl era. He gave New England everything. To hold back any appreciation (as much as can be provided in sports), is to be ridiculously bitter.

Almost literally every single person I talked to in Bucs or Pats gear at SoFi on Sunday said they were there to see Brady, that seeing him play was a bucket list-type thing (which it was for my wife - we'd have gone last year to Foxboro if it wasn't for COVID).

Complete head scratcher here. Like you pointed out the Chiefs need defense, and even if Gordon can stay out of trouble (big if), I’m not even sure he can play anymore. He sucked for the Patriots and that was 2 years ago

He's on the practice squad, zero risk. One of the Chiefs' challenges on offense is a lack of reliable targets beyond Kelce and Hill. He's a big body in a landscape of small speedy receivers and Hardman, Pringle and others aren't really breaking out and having a day when the stars are well covered.

James White is expected to be out the remainder of the season. That this season's hopes rested on James White really does expose the limitations of the New England Patriots at the moment. I hope he gets better quickly and he can get back on the field to play more next year.
