NFL 2008-09 Season

Until the Giants play a REAL team, I'm not buying into them.

I'll give them credit for beating up on the cupcakes, but they are not that great in my eyes yet.

Damn Sabres you're tough. The Giants did beat the Redskins and crushed the Seahawks (which is what you'd expect them to do to a lousy team). Oh yeah and they're the defending SB champs. You annoint the Cardnials and Bills as SB contenders based on far less.

Anders,

you know you said Texas Tech has yet to play a real opponent?

This is basically me saying the same thing about a different team- the Giants, like the Red Raiders, need to play someone with a pulse.

I didn't say those teams would win the Super Bowl; I have them making the playoffs and possibly winning their divisions.

How are the 4-1 Redskins not a REAL team? They beat the Cowboys and Eagles on the road and they beat the 3-1 Saints and your beloved Arizona Cardinals at home. The Giants are as legit as anyone in the league.

In that case, I have upgraded the Giants from being Texas Tech-esque to being like the Missouri Tigers- one impressive win (Redskins, Illinois) and a string of cupcake opponents.

Very good, but I'm still skeptical (I want to see Mizzou against the Longhorns; ditto for the Giants against other opponents)

They deserve more credit than that. To use your analogy the Giants are like LSU. You can't pretend like SB XLII never happened.

Anders,

how confident are you in your homestate Panthers?

I thought before the season that John Fox was a goner and that they'd crumble in the wake of Steve Smith's incident.

My confidence is growing. I've always liked Jake Delhomme and having him back healthy is HUGE. The resigning of Mushin Muhammed has been great too. What I can't get over is the defense. They have allowed fewer points than all but 4 other teams in the league. This after Mike Rucker and Mike Minter retired, Kris Jenkins left as a FA and Julius Peppers had the worst season of his career last year. I don't know what they're doing but I like it!

Oh yeah, and a shout out to the Broncos. Thanks for beating New Orleans and Tampa Bay!

My Week 5- Top Ten:

1. NY Giants
2. Tennessee
3. Washington
4. Pittsburgh
5. Dallas
6. Carolina
7. Denver
8. Tampa Bay
9. Arizona
10. Buffalo

I won't do my bottom ten until after tonight's game (chances are the loser will be in the bottom 10 :D).

The Redskins have finished with their division road games after only five weeks. They still have to play Dallas, the Giants and Philly.......................but all at home.

Given that there have been many instances in the NFL when a bad team can pummel a very good team, let's imagine if the Browns were to demolish the Giants in their Monday Night game.

HD, on a scale of 1-10, how stunned would you be?

I would love to see that: Giants are overconfident, overlook the Browns, and get wiped out.

Bottom Ten also dependent on MNF...but only for one of the teams. :D

On a scale of 1-10, I'd be shocked a #9 if the Browns "demolished" the Giants. The Browns have not shown any signs yet this season that they are able to demolish anybody, especially the best team in the country.

With that said, I do think the Browns have a chance to win a close one. We have plenty of talent to do so. We just haven't put it all together yet. It's at home and there is a chance the Giants get caught off guard as you said. Any team can win on any given Sunday.

Giants will NOT over look the Browns, for one reason, the next game for them is the 49'ers and then Pittsburgh, they would not look past two teams to the showdown with a better team.
