Merry Christmas guys, kinda of nice to be able chat somewhat live today. Seems to be a lot of people here this morning.
And who would they be? By my count , there are maybe 10 I would keep. The rest wouldn't be in the NFL if it weren't for the Lions.

10 is a good number, how many good players do the Steelers have?
- Alan Faneca
- James Farrior
- Larry Foote
- Casey Hampton
- Santonio Holmes
- Heath Miller
- Willie Parker
- Troy Polamalu
- Ben Roethlisberger
- Aaron Smith
- Hines Ward
Granted there are other players that perform well, but they aren't as good as these players IMHO.
That's a pretty impressive ten. Probably why they're going to the playoffs and the Lions aren't.

Also throw into the conversation, potentially (If Cleveland decides) Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn, or neither Brown if they decide tom keep them both....
All thoughts are welcome !
Jimbo
I heard earlier today that Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers 's contracts are up ....
Would the Lions be interested in either, they both would be an upgrade I think and Kitna could find a wheel chair....
Which would you want ???

Don't look for Manning or Rivers to move. Derek Anderson would get killed behind our line, so would anyone for that matter. Just not so sure about Anderson amybe just being a flash-in-the-pan.

I dunno, I think our top 10 rival's your aging crew....
1. Joe Thomas
2. Eric Steinbach
3. Kellen Winslow
4. Braylon Edwards
5. Josh Cribbs
6. Jamal Lewis
7. Derek Anderson
8. Leigh Bodden
9. Kamerion Wimbley
10. Sean Jones
Our Kicker, Phil Dawson was a close 11th!
Have you beaten us in a consistent matter?
Your team got SWEPT this year.
BTW....Jamal lewis is getting old.....he's older than Parker.
You better root for the Colts....or else the Brownies are out of the playoffs again. Oh yeah who won the AFC North this year?....I know The Steelers.
Yeah you backed yourselves into winning the AFC North. Congratulations. Have fun making a quick exit following your first round loss to Jacksonville though. If Cleveland gets in and we play you instead, I'm afraid the result will be the same. But congrats on the AFC North thing.....
Go Jim Sorgi and the Colts!
:up:up:upIt's not really "Backing yourself into it" when you've been ahead of everyone else ALL year.
I suppose if Cleveland gets into the playoffs , that NOT Backing in ???
Jimbo
Oh, no, no, no. Stick to the change and let it go through it's growing pains? What do you think we've been doing for the last 7 seasons? You had the right words, just the wrong order. Your statement should read:
"It's NOT like they picked up a bunch of TALENTED players. There is plenty of TALENTLESS PLAYERS on that Lions team."
Now an opinion on Martz: This guy will be gone next season, probably not for the reason you guys think. He will be fired. This man is the most inconsistent, overrated coach we have here. Before you tell me about the offensive line (I already know they suck), keep in mind that this line only gave up one sack (on the last play of the Dallas game) in the last 2 games. Now look at what the offense did last week, and what they didn't do this week. There has been no consistency from week to week. I'm not even sure they really have a game plan. All I see is confusion.
The Defense? Jimbo you're right. If this guy (Marinelli is a defensive guru, I'm not seeing it. Take a look at the road losses. They gave up an average of 42.8 pts. Even Miami isn't that bad. Gurus find a way to make the talent (or lack of talent in this case) respectable.
Who's fault is this? William Clay Ford. For now though, lets just blame MILLEN. He's hiring the coaches, drafting the players, and signing every worthless free agent in sight. His drafts have been a huge bust. (We had bigger needs than Calvin Johnson). There have been a few good choices (Williams, Jones, and most certainly Sims) and there have been the countless players who aren't here anymore. (Harrington, Rogers, Mike Williams.) And how about those trades? Bly for Foster and Bell. Neither has even dressed for the last 4 weeks. Williams and McCown for a 4th rd. pick that didn't even make the team. I could go on and on, but it just gets worse.
Here's an interesting theory being kicked around here: It's not all Millens fault. Maybe Ford fancies himself as a GM and Millen has the job because he is willing to do exactly as Ford says, and Millen is just the puppet. Just another Russ Thomas. (Remember him?). I'm only buying halfway into this theory. But seeing that this team has been consistently bad through out Ford's ownership, and he's the only constant..... Coaches, GM's and players have come and gone, yet the stink remains. The losing attitude is passed from player to player, year to year, just as Joedecock said. The problem is the solution to that is to fire and cut everyone, and start fresh. Not possible.
My solution? Have Ford sell the team. (Not going to happen). Well how about we find some real football people to take over, (like Mr Illitch has done with the Wings and Tigers), and then get the hell out of the stadium, and let them do their job. Yep, another rebuilding project. Actually the rebuilding has been going on (all together now boys and girls)
SINCE 1957!!!!
Martz rumored to be fired after today's game and to be replaced by WR coach Kippy Brown.
