NFL 2007-08 Season

Blah....blah....blah....buying championships like the Yankees....blah...blah...games are played on the field not paper....blah....blah.....blah....until the Colts are beaten in the playoffs...THEY and SOLELY THEY are the team to beat .....blah...blah....

Damn I hate cliches....but they somehow always seem to hold true.....:D;):p

As for your blah blah blah...try bringing facts to equation. The patriots consistently have a low payroll.

While they added all of those players this year it is because they had cap room from last year.

So how can you buy a championship when there is a salary cap???:confused: The Colts spent the most last year so I guess they did buy the championship.

Bengals still have 18m to get more people. They should get a whole new defense.

Are you kidding me?? I don't think so. ..snipped..

Which is why I said top 10 pick (as in the draft). As long as we beat the Raiders twice i suppose, and Broncos in Arrowhead though even that will be unlikely this year. No matter how low the AFCW teams sink, the division games are almost always good ones.

Though, thanks to Carl, we'll get a nice pick after Croyle shows solid potential to be a QBotF, and he'll pick a QB project with it.

I am sorry, ALL those players they picked up must have all come from the draft. The ONLY teams that can do any talking right now are the 2 teams that were in the Super Bowl. Other than that, everyone else is doing wishful thinking....

Remember....on paper, you have won nothing. Ask the Mavericks....:D

Salsa..just stop it.

Its ok. The topic was 2007-2008 and what was going to happen in the NFL.

So I gave an OPINION.

You tossed out something that was PROVEN FALSE. The Pats arent near the top because they refuse to get handcuffed with Salary. They had so much room from last year it enabled them to bring in players.

The Pats, Colts, San Diego and any other team with a real shot at the Super Bowl are in a great position. Players will take less to play for those teams.

If the team stinks, like lets say Oakland, they need to over pay to get players.

In the NBA the Celts are stuck in that position noone wants to come here. I dont blame the players.

There are plenty of REAL issues with the Pats that people could bring up to debate the strenght of the Pats:

1. Will Maroney survive as the featured back without Dillon?
2. Who will back up Maroney.
3. Will the WRs and Brady be able to develop chemistry?
4. Rodney Harrison was injured last year and their no1. pick merriweather the safety out of miami hasnt been signed. If Rodney goes down will the secondary suffer again?

There are plenty of question marks with lots of teams. Just dont toss up that garbage about buying championships. I proved you wrong.

LMAO......You proved that they had salary cap room...didn't prove me wrong because they went and signed a bunch of free agents....8 in all....how are THOSE guys picked up?? HELLO....!!!! I NEVER said they had a high payroll, I NEVER said they went over the salary cap....I said they bought a bunch of players...which they did. You just added information to the conversation....that is all....you didn't prove anything because I was not stating anything that was not ALREADY FACT.

So please go back and look at the post....where is it wrong....? I understand your giddiness because ON PAPER, they are ONE OF the favorites....but NO ONE has EVER won a championship of ANY KIND on paper.....

I have a feeling this year's superbowl will be two teams no one expected to get there.

I would not doubt that. When it comes to MY teams, regardless of sport and because I have worked in the sport media....I am REALISTIC about things. For a team to win the Super Bowl, you not ONLY have to be VERY talented....you also have to be very lucky. And when one team gets BOTH, you just know they will win it all.
It ain't just talent and a QB, RB or WR who is hot. You have to have breaks go your way.

Well put ...:up

I had a friend in vegas last week and asked him to put money on the 49ers.

I had read that they were going off at 60-1 to win the NFC

Friend called me back said they dropped to 15-1.

I didnt make the bet but seems like there are a lot of people thinking long shots.

I think the NFC is wide open.

As for he AFC..I am giddy about the PATS what PATS fan wouldnt be?

However,

I think you can toss the Colts, Chargers, Bengals, Steelers and Jets into the mix.

I think a great debate is who comes out of the NFC?

As for Salsa and buying a championship we differ on the definition.

To me buying a championship is spending more money than everyone else. IE the Yankees and Redsox every year. Such as the Matsuzaka lottery and how the Yankees ate up all of Abreus salary last year.

I dont classify spending the same amount of money as everyone else does buying a championship. The Pats just spend theirs wisely.

Needing breaks to win..that I definately agree with.

In 2001 everyone remembers the tuck rule. But people forget the Pats were lucky to be in the playoffs!

In the last game vs Buffalo the Pats were down to their last possession and they were down. If they lose they dont make the playoffs.

It was forth down and Brady hits Patton down the right sideline for a first down.
Patton gets DRILLED and flops to the ground unconscious. Buffalo picks up the ball and the game should have been over...but wait!

Patton who was unconscious had his feet out of bounds and lay lifeless on the field. His helmet however remained in contact with the ball.

The officials ruled Pats ball since Patton touched the ball while out of bounds.

They went on to win and we know the rest, tuck rule and all.

Even last year as I previously stated the Pats shouldnt have gotten by SD.

I love when it comes to YOUR TEAM....it's "spending theirs wisely"....when it's other teams, THEY spent foolishly....:river:river:river

Now I am not singling you out...ALOT of people do this. It's like what Chris Rock said the difference between the rich and the poor...

"when your poor....its a missing tooth.......when your rich, its a gap....." and MY favorite....."when your poor....your F**ING crazy....when your rich, your eccentric..."

THAT my friend is the MOST UNFORTUNATE fluke of football nature I have EVE seen!!!:(

I take exception to the use of the word "fluke". The Ford's have worked hard to keep this team as sh!tty as it has been. It's damn hard work scouring the underbrush of the NFL, to find the worst coaches, GM's, players, ETC..... And to do this with such consistency is nothing short of remarkable.

DETROIT LIONS - REBUILDING SINCE 1957!
