I've looked over the list at

http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/United-States.html

and it appears that CNBC Europe is available via the Hispasat 1C satellite...is this correct? can somebody knowledgeable double check that for me?

I ask because it also shows the feed is available via the Astra 1E satellite, but SatTracker clearly shows that is below the horizon...

many thanks in advance,
james

PS: Does anybody know of reputable dealers/installers in the Houston,Tx area?

I used to watch this channel in Europe! A LOT!

Not available in the US, always check the satellites BEAM to see if you will be able to get the satellite from your location!

WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum!

We have a GREAT member / installer here from TX, his name is SKSatellite. Drop him a PM, if he does not get back to you send me a PM and I will give you his contact details.

Thanks for the welcome Pete!

I was checking out the beam...so I gather that even though Hispasat 1C carries the channel, it is only beamed to europe?

Relatedly, can you explain why Lyngsat carries CNBC Europe as a fta channel in "Channels from United States" when it cannot be viewed from there? I guess I'm still trying to understand the process that channels get included on that page from that site...

I'll drop SKSatellite a pm...

tks again,
james

That list catches A LOT of us out!

Its channels being broadcast FROM the USA, not necessarily channels we can get here in the USA :(

More or less they are being broadcast from the USA but not for our consumption, and are being beamed only over Europe for example!

If you are not in the Beam, or footprint then there is no way to get the signal. Even if you are in the beam/footprint they have to be broadcasting also.

Loads of other channels on that satellite and others!

I have seen loads of news feeds and sports from the UK / Europe over the years. Best was a 5 hour broadcast of some car racing, including all the adverts from the UK.

Only a matter of time until FTA is as big here as it is in Europe (IMO)

CNBC HQ postal address is in the US, that's why it's listed as being available.

For example, Disney, E!, and Cartoon Network Europe were previosly listed in lyngsat as FTA for US, but their beams were Korea and Europe.

aha!

i see said the blindman as he picked up his hammer and saw :p

thanks guys...that's what i needed to know

cheers,
james
