Hi, I am a newbie that has aquired a "DIRECTV Ka/Ku Multi-Satellite Dish Antenna with 5 LNBs and Built-in Multi-Switch"

It has a 99/101/103 LNB and a 110/119 LNB

I am hoping to use this for FTA tv but have no experience. Can I get reception from 5 different sattelites with this dish? Does it matter what reciever I use? I don't have a reciever yet so want to get one that is compatible with this dish. Any recommendations?

I live in South Central Montana if that matters as to which satellites are available.

Thanks
JTech

You need a 30-36" dish for Free To Air. You would be able to get a few channels that are not scrambled from Dish Network, see:

Not much FTA KU with that small of a dish and no KA.

Here's a pretty comprehensive beginner's list of actual FTA services.
In addition, there are feeds, which are unscheduled news reports or sporting events.

Most DirecTV and Dish Network dishes are not very useful for those services.
As WescoPC said, they're just too small (and often have the wrong LNBs).
