Hello I am thinking about FTA and I just moved into a house the has a DirecTV dish looks like the Phase III

Will this dish work if I goto the DN Sats or do I have to get a whole new dish....I am very new to this so please bear with me.....

And If this dish does or dosn't work can you please recommend one plus a receiver that has the capablity of an HD PVR dual tuner.....

Thanks for all your help.....

I dont see the connection between FTA and Dish Network. Please explain more. If what you want is to subscribe to Dish Network programming , please contact them , I am sure they will gladly help you. they will throw the dish and installation for free probably. they also have the dual HD pvr receiver.

If what you want is FTA (Open or In the clear TV/Radio signals via several Satellites) then that oval 20" dish is too small, you need at least a 31" round Dish. Also note there is no Dual HD PVR FTA receiver in the market yet , well as usual I could be wrong on this. There is not much HD in the FTA Ku band anyways so you will need a C Band Dish then(at least 6 ft diameter).

Again , pelase explain more your needs so we can help you or on the contrary crucify you, lol. Ah, as usual also, I almost forget , Welcome to the forum.

Do not thank me , I have nothing better to do now , lol.

If you are trying to pick up Dish Network/Directv channels for free then that is considered hacking/pirating and is illegal. No one here will help you. In fact, now that Dish Network has recently made the transition to Nagravision 3 encryption I don't think anyone will hack it anytime soon. If you are trying to receive FTA channels you will need at least a 31" dish as hd fan said above.

There are no legal FTA channels available through Directv and the only ones available through Dish Network are NASA, ION, and Angel One.

There may be a dual HD PVR FTA receiver available as a PCI card for computer, but that is just a suggestion. I have no idea if there is or not, I'm just not sure if hd fan is talking about set-top box receivers only so I thought I'd give you another area to research :)
