just wanted to say hello.
i couldn't find the chit-chat forum.

i have an hl-s6187w w/ my xbox360 hooked up via VGA. does anyone else have the same setup? do you get the black bars around the picture? how do you remove that? thank you.

It's a 1080p TV so you must be sending it either a 480p or 720p signal. You can either set the xbox360 to send 1080i/1080p or tell the TV to make all signals fit the screen.

Welcome to the forum, jeremynebraska! :wave

Yes, as 8bitbytes pointed out, you must be sending SD signal to your TV set (which is actually 480i or 480p, not 720p. 720p would look fine).

Are you talking about games or movies? Are they HD or SD? If you are playing an SD movie that is letterboxed, you will have to use Zoom function to get rid of the black frame: black bars at the top and at the bottom are part of the letterboxed image, and black bars on the sides are due to the SD source.

Good luck!
