New To RV Dish

Okay. Not Sure? Got LNBF has what look like 3 outs (one each for the 3 sats). I thought I could run one 50' RG-6 from that to the 5r convenience center where I could connect that one RG-6 to this...

and then connect those two pigtails to the two inputs for my coax runs in the 5r to the TV locations where the Wally receivers will be.

So what is this installation missing in my uneducated mind? What does the Dish 1000.2 Dish Proplus LNBF need to have only one coax run from it?

Do I install a 3 in / 1 out separator/splitter at the 3 short coax runs from the DPP/LNBF then a singe to the separator in the RV?

With a DishProPlus LNB you need one coax for each receiver from any of the first three ports on the LNB directly to the receiver.

With Wally's you can also use a Hybrid LNB and a Dish Channel Stack Splitter to run a single coax from port one of the LNB to the Dish Channel Stack Splitter and then from the splitter to the Wally's.

Hooking one Wally to each output of the Separator would probably work except one of the receivers might not be able to control which LNBF it is connected to.

It might work but probably won't, at least not reliably.

Since he has separate inputs at the RV for each receiver, two coax runs from the DPP would seem to be the simplest setup.

The thought of dragging around twice as much coax on this traveling set up and the concern that only 2 birds will be seen has me wondering if I've gotten the wrong LNB. I guess the confusion for me comes from the instructions that came with the 1000.2. It shows 3 coax cables hooked to the 3 outputs (one each for each bird) of the DPP. So, in my mind, I'm thinking if I run only one coax from the DPP LNBF, then my receivers only see one bird! I did get a text from George @ TV4RV. "You need to run one RG-6 cable from the #1 output connection of the LNB to the 5th wheel. Once you establish good signal on each satellite, you will need to run the "Check Switch" program built into the dish setup section of the receiver to align and set all the built in switches. Then use a dish approved splitter to extend to multiple receivers." It may be mid week b4 I'll get a chance to do a test hook-up.

Does my new RV setup only need to see one bird? Where do locals for the area I'm camped in come from? I do appreciate all the help and patience I' receiving on my first visit here on satellite guys. Clearly this is the first time I've ventured into the DIY satellite TV. It might have been so much simpler to just get one of those Pathway X2 things. That set up would have been about $200 more and from what I've read around the web, do not have as strong signal as the larger antenna.

The LNB sees all three satellites at the same time and the internal switch takes care of the process. All three satellites will be available on the one wire to the receiver.

There are only four DMA's, Casper WY, Charlottesville VA, Cincinnati OH, and Louisville KY, that are on 77 but not on 61.5. There are many more that are only on the western arc sats.

So I've got all my gear and I'm messing around in the 5r installing the Wally, re-routing wiring, looking for where I hid couplings, blah, blah, and more blah. I just had this disastrous thought. The living room and bedroom are in sight of one another! Is there a way to set one of the 54 remotes on RF while the other on IR? I sure don't want to change the Hallmark channel in the BR while I'm searching for something on one of the ESPN channels!! Yikes!! I looked around the Dish pages but did not find much about the 54 remote other than them touting all its great features. Seems I remember the Dish guy setting up the 3 remotes at home for the two Joey receivers and Hopper to be play friendly.

Just 'pair' each of the 54 remotes to the Wally's and they won't interfere with each other. They will each set themselves up on separate RF channels. Just be sure that you have 'Infrared Reception' turned off in the Settings > Remote > Advanced section.

Wallys are a bit different than the old VIP receivers. Your 54 remotes will marry to the individual Wally and are RF. They aren't addressable in the same way the older receivers are. There is a sequence to 'pair' the remote to the receiver. As long as you do that individually the remote will only talk to the receiver it is paired to.

DMA = Designated Market Area (Local station viewing area as determined by market research company Nielsen Corp.
DPP = Dish Pro Plus series of LNB's, switches, etc. used in various dish configurations.
SOLO (Node or Hub) = Designed for use with a single host Hopper series receiver.
LNB = Low Noise Block downconverter that receives the satellite signals and converts them to a lower frequency for cleaner transmission to the receiver.
LNBF = Low Noise Block downconverter and Feedhorn, the feedhorn is the antenna portion of the LNB that receives the sat signals focused on it by the large reflector ("dish").

Anything from Applied Instruments. A Super Buddy, Turbo S2 or XR-3 are the best.

Software updates are available over the internet. No calibration needed. Just make sure it has a new battery.

Moving right along.... Anyone know what this means? I've got the cable run from the 1000.2 to my 1st Wally. The cable test good all the way. I've got the dish pointed per dishpointer.com at 218.2 magnetic while taking the reading away from any interfering stuff (5th wheel, metal building, power lines, etc) and elevation 46.2 best I can read on the scale of the dish mount. Skew is 124 per app. I also verified the location of sats 110, 119, & 129 using DishPointer Pro, Sat Finder and Wingard TV Signal Finder. I'm very sure that I'm on or very near the sats. Just don't know rather to call Dish next or what.
