new software and 2 stb freezes

I received the software upgrade 2 days ago.

Last night, my stb locked up twice while I was SLOWLY surfing through the channels.

Each time the screen remained black with the lower channel guide remaining on screen with audio from that channel--no video, only the black screen we get between channel changes.

Soft reboot was impossible each time as both remote and stb were frozen. I had o pull the plug each time.

I have not had to do more than 1 reboot for several months.
Now I do two within an hour.

Is it conincidence or the new software?

I had the exact same problem.
I also had to reboot first thing this morning.
I have had no problems since.

Mine did the same thing. It showed the program guide for the channel and sound but no picture. So I just when to a different channel and back to the first one and everything was OK. Have patience.

I also got the new software on one of my two boxes. The software is
terrible. I keep getting black screens, the channel changing is
slower and I also had to reboot once. My old software box is
fine. I wish I could go back to the old software.

I wish it would have been that simple. I wanted to do the old channel back/forth trick. I could not go to any other channel. This was a complete lockup each time.

My remote would not respond to any button, nor would the stb.

When you get the new software what are the numbers now on the installation screen? It doesn't appear to me that my software has been upgraded yet and the only problems I'm having I had before. The channel, when I'm surfing sometimes has no sound. I have to go up a channel and then back down which usually takes care of it.
Are they doing the software upgrades 24 hours/day or during a specific time slot in the early AM? Does anyone know what that time slot is?

Bug in release 7.0b

Don't try resetting resolutions (from red button on box) while tuned to an OTA channel. It will lock up the box and freeze the image on the TV. I called Voom about the problem. It did not do this with the last version of software. It won't do it tuned to a channel from the dish feed.

I haven't gotten the software upgrade yet and I'm not sure I want it right now.....Wilt, are they still doing them nightly by schedule in spite of the problems?

I haven't received the upgrade yet either. I will just wait and see if it comes sometime this week. The next batch of upgrades might be coming Thrusday, like it was for most of the others that already have received it.

Haven't received it yet either. Hopefully they are fixing these problems before continuing. Haven't had any problems at all with the current 6.20 version.
