Satellites change names occasionally because companies get bought up. For example Americom satellites were originally GE, so AMC3 used to be GE3, and many Intelsat birds were Telstar, so IA6 used to be Telstar 6.
Intelsat bought Panamsat recently, and at sometime in the past Panamsat acquired Galaxy. Now Intelsat is renaming a number of IA, G, and PAS birds. Interestingly, a lot of IA are becoming G, with number changes. The ones that matter to HughesNet:
IA6/93 will become G26
IA8/89 will become G28
For Starband users, IA7/129 will become G27
Changeover date is February 1.
