New Modem

I got a new Charter modem about a month or two ago to replace my owned one. They sent me an Arris TM822.

My speeds went from 30/3~ to 60/4~ without any other changes. My owned modem was only capable of 30mpbs maximum.

They no longer charge a rental fee for their modems, so it's no longer worth purchasing an owned modem to save money.

I just got a new modem too from Charter (didn't look at the model) and my speed went from 30 something to 60 something down. Up is still about the same.. 3 or 4. I started with a 15mb plan 4 years ago.. and got bumped up to 30 (new modem) 2 years ago.. and now 60 for free. Would I get 120 in 2 years for free? :p

Most likely the old modem was a 4X4; the new Arris is 8x4 (8 bonded downstream channels) as is the SB6141 and the DPC3010.
