new locals

so it sounds like Fox is doing the same there as they do here for Mankato

Check tonight during prime time and see if the bars go away. I know here during prime time there is a blue "FOX" in the bottom right corner that if the picture is zoomed disappears.

Looks like i may have been mistaken. It appears that fox21 is in HD OTA at the same time WBOC (CBS) is. I attached a screen shot of both channels taken at the same time. I am not sure when fox started doing the HD, but i am not complaining:)

you are exactly right. I went back and looked at my tv and fox was broadcasting at 480i and cbs was at 1080i. Not sure why i didnt do that to begin with

now you guys have me wondering.....

I'll admit that sometimes Fox21 doesn't look as good as WBOC does, and even mentioned to my wife once that I wondered if it was true HD. Now, channel 40 in Wildwood, which I pull in for NBC, showed the Stanley Cup finals in what was obviously 480i widescreen, as the banner at the top of the screen was completely invisible. But for the NFL broadcasts and NASCAR on Fox21, you can see all the stuff at the edges. My tv is set to not automatically fill the screen for letterbox, yet these games and races fill the screen and the tv indicates the resolution is "full." If they were broadcasting in 480i, shouldn't it look letterboxed by default on my screen?

I'll make a point to check the resolution next time they are showing something in widescreen.

They can do 480i widescreen.

Easiest way to check is normally they would have the black bars on the side but during primetime they do fill the whole screen.
I have access to 2 Fox Networks and both are in HD/Widescreen during prime time

Are they in SD or HD? Do you have a link to the info?

dish is not even talking to them at the moment, another reason i left

I had thought that once Direct had Salisbury Dish would broadcast about a month later. Don't know why the owners are stubborn

just a guess, but i bet its to do with money. they want to be paid the same comcast is paying them, and charlie wants it for free

I saw WBOC 16 OTA last week announced that you can receive their signals on DIRECT TV. Maybe we will get them in Jan but I noticed they will be SD

I'd love any FOX network, local or not. I know our local station here in Lake Charles is/was being difficult but any chance of distant locals here soon? Downloading Bones & Fringe every week is frustrating.

Looks like we are finally getting them.... http://www.wboc.com/story/15676567/wboc-and-fox21-now-available-on-dish-network-in-5-delmarva-counties

WBOC and FOX21 are now available on Dish Network for the first time to our viewers in five counties across Delmarva, including Wicomico, Dorchester, Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland and Sussex County in Delaware.
WBOC and FOX21 now appear on Dish Network Channels 16 and 21, respectively.
Eligibility for local channels is based on service address within certain designated-market areas, as defined by Nielsen Media Research, Inc.
Both WBOC and FOX21 are already carried on DirecTV in the aforementioned five counties, and numerous cable companies on Delmarva also carry the two stations. Additionally, everyone on Delmarva, no matter where they live, can watch WBOC and FOX21 free, and in stunning high-definition, with an over-the-air antenna.
For more information, call the Dish Network at 1-800-823-4929.

This weeks locals that are supposed to launch are...

WTHID (FOX)
KIIN (PBS)
WSEEP (CBS)

Some changes this week... the following channels are changing from TBN to Independent, WLXI, WINM, WTLJ, WNYB.

KFTY is changing call letters to KEMO.

KFTY to KEMO is because the station is moving to spanish programming with a new owner.... That removed ME-TV programming from the Bay Area....
