New LNB bracket as per Anole’s instructions & AMC-6 SQ Test

I purchased a new Chaparral all metal Universal KU LNB, which performs well. I built a new bracket as per Anole directions and information (Pictures 6, 7)

I also fixed up the front of my 500 Dish arm and bracket. The before picture will show that I had drilled through the plastic yoke to mount the LNB holder. I removed it and rebuilt and extended the metal arm. (Pictures 1 to 5)

It was a nice night (Picture 8) and I decided to set up the 18x20 DTV and the Dish Network 500 dish and check the signal quality using the mux on AMC-6.
I tuned both dishes to give maximum signal quality, and I used the Invacom SNH-031 LNB on 500 dish and the new all metal Chaparral LNB on the DTV dish, I found that the performance for both LNBs are about equal. This little experiment does prove the bigger the dish the better the signal. (Pictures 9 to 12)

Actually, you built the bracket design by z4ccamaro.
I took a little liberty with his idea.
... but did put mine on a DirecTV Phase III dish with an Invacom! -
... and popularize it.

So, you decided the bigger dish was a little better, huh?
Surprise, surprise! -

Looking at your pictures, it looks like that LNB is just too close to the Dish 500 reflector.

Dang. I did that test over a year ago with a 18" dish and a crappy KU LNB and had good results on AMC6.
