New Hopper install - How long before I can create a timer?

I just got a new Hopper with Sling installed. All of the initial software has downloaded and I am now watching TV, however there is a message on screen that says: "Your program guide and DVR are being updated. Please wait to create timers or access DVR events".

The progress bar that is displayed went up to 70% fairly quickly, but it has remained at 70% for over an hour. Is this normal? How long will it take before I can create a timer? Will that message stay on screen until it gets to 100%?

It can take up to a few hours for this one time. After that you're all good.

Thanks! I was getting concerned that it looked like the download had frozen up.

Unplug your receiver power plug for 10 seconds. Usually it helps.

It's going to take your new Hopper a few days to get settled in. Just have a little patience and all will be well....

The timers functionality should work as soon as the guide is fully downloaded. If the download gets frozen a red button reboot should fix it. Two of my Hoppers got stuck on 95% and needed a RBR.

They are "weird" like that for a couple of days. Don't worry, we've all gone through it.

You guys were right. After waiting a few more hours, the upgrading message disappeared from the screen and I could create timers.
