As far as I know dish network does not have my local channels on HD. But they do have the new vip-622, which is the mpeg4 HD DVR, I;m thinking about getting it but since HD locals are not available I'll probably get an antenna, I put my address at antenaweb.org and this is what comes up.

What type of antenna should I get?, I'm so confused. Help.

Yellow is good, that's like the weakest antenna need. Screw a coat hanger into your plug and good to go ;)

But a lott serious, you need a UHF/VHF antenna, and it can be for indoor use also. I did notice that CBS is in St. Pete, and it's coded purple so that may be a problem

:welcome to the site

no... stay away from that thing.

I've used UHF only antennas to pick up VHF channels 11 and 13, but I don't think it would work on 7, or else I'd reccomend that.

Well one thing you could ask about is, Dish Network is offering Antenna installations for $49 bucks now, I dunno how well the dish installer would be trained to do the OTA, but that might work

There seems to be some confusion over what exactly Dish is offering for an antenna, but it seems to be a Winegard squareshooter, which looks to be a pretty respectable outdoor antenna.
A couple of things to keep in mind. First, there is not such thing as an "HD" antenna. It is either UHF, VHF or both. Typically, TV stations broadcast digitally in the UHF range, but in some cases, such as yours (and mine), you will see a few digital broadcasts in UHF, so be sure to look for an antenna that pulls in both. Your reception situation looks to be a bit more challenging that what I faced, but you might want to try starting with a Phillips PHDTV3 indoor antenna. I've seen them at WalMart for less than 40 bucks. If your TV has a built-in ATSC tuner, you might want to try that first. If it doesn't work, you can always return it. While not perfect, my PHDTV3 has served me well. In fact, when I eventually do the upgrade to the 622 and HD from Dish, I might keep mine around (unless there is a way to have the Dish-installed outdoor antenna feed both the ATSC tuner in the 622 and my TV. Having 2 ATSC tuners pulling in my local network stuff would be really handy)

Note that the antenna E* offers is UHF-only. And, yes, you can feed two tuners from one antenna via a plain splitter although amplification may be necessary.
