I have direct now and the genie is much better than it was years ago but the hopper 3 to me trumps the Genie. It’s 2018 , bring the channel logos back . Directv should learn how to reincorporate that back into their Genie . Dish did it so can direct .

Sent from my iPhone using the SatelliteGuys app!
They did that back in the 90's.

Same thing could be said for a PIP toggle. But since the HS17 doesn’t have PIP I guess PIP is dead.
Sad about that. when pip first showed up.. we had little 27'' TV's the pip was a eye strain. now many of us have 60''+ screens and pip is more useful.
As far as quick tune goes, if it was any bigger you’d end pressing more buttons trying to get to the channel you wanted, it would be faster to just type in the channel. Thats why its the size it is now.
That's just purely your thought. no fact at all.

I find it much easier to use a cursor, than fumbling thru a key pad trying recalling 18 to 24 numbers between 1 and 700. it's the same as having icons on a desktop or any other screen. hell if the remote had a air mouse it could even be easier.

Next your gonna say, lets go to Pictures, as its easier for the youngsters to choose a picture instead of remember a number.

CE last night and tonight, a few changes but nothing drastic, so called improvements are mostly backend or bug fixes. Progress bar changes and remaining font size flows.

I agree. No "black shroud". Missing recordings through whole home appears to be fixed. General tidying up.
I don't know what techiefan is expecting.
Don't think I said anything about expectations, but not having a new CE for a while would give one wonder to whats maybe new or improved. Was the first one in a very long while with change notes, that's a very much welcomed addition.

It may have taken a while but they addressed most issues.

Yet the ESPN app on the Apple TV can do 4 screens at once. Would be nice if we had that feature.

I find it much easier and faster to type in a channel number, either to tune to or go to a channel directly in the guide, then fumbling with a cursor and arrow buttons. This is one reason I don’t like the streaming services, no channel numbers. :)

I get PIP on my HR54 but not my C61.

It would be a lot more complicated to do it on the client because it does not have its own tuners.

Is this still going to be the interface that DTV over the internet will use and they did this design with that in mind? Or will DTV over the internet use the DTV Now interface. Maybe then we should judge this new interface on which one is better for DTV over the internet? Unless they would add channel numbers to the DTV Now interface and you could have the option to turn them off?

The Apple TV can do 4 screens at once with the ESPN app. I wonder if a software update could do it with the DTVN app or with the clients somehow? Of course you’d have to use 2-4 tuners from the Genie to do it.

Still a dream. Oh well.

When the service is released we will know. Otherwise no one has any clue yet on the upcoming service or interface

I would hate to be the programmer given this as a task on DirecTV. Anyway given the small number of people using PIP, I can't see this being high on DirecTV's priority list

No it’s not. Although Dish was able to accomplish it. Oh well.
