Eastern Arc Market Launches—
16 Markets to be Converted on 11/19/08

Jacksonville – new HD market
Lexington – new HD market
Cincinnati – new HD market
Little Rock – new HD market
Springfield, MO – new HD market
Charleston, WV – new HD market
Harrisburg – new HD market
Louisville – new HD market
Austin – existing HD market
Wichita Falls (including Montague County which receives both Dallas and Wichita Falls locals) – new HD market

Ok, I am in the Cincy viewing area. What does this mean for me? I believe that I have a Dish 1000 and I am on the HD pack

They uplinked Springfield yesterday in SD, so do you think this is the first step to convert the channels to HD Nov. 19th? Maybe the ones they have agreements with, and leave the other ones SD. This was a surprise, since Springfield hadn't been mentioned for HD in a couple of years.

I still haven't got my cards yet, but they could come any day, I guess there is no big hurry, I'm pretty happy with my antenna,

I imagine these will be on the newly arrived E8 at 77w. Several of these areas are not coverd by 61.5 spots. Wonder if they will still use a wing sigh for 77 when a customer has a 1000.2. Even better question is the old Dish 1000's that would require an external switch. Maybe these customers will be the first to be switched to 1000.4s

Also see they are going after DirecTV. Lexington and Charleston are 2 of the biggest markets they don't have yet.

Harrisburg – new HD market
:hungry: Hoping it's 61.5 and not 72.7 or 77

mind you, I would love to find something to support the list... esp since the market wasn't announced for this year. but will be happy to see them arrive just the same. further, I am 99.9% certain that the most we (the Harrisburg DMA) will get is three channels. CBS & CW both owned by a company (Newport Television Partners) who doesn't play ball with echostar. Fox is tribune so it should be safe, likewise NBC Argyle Hearst. I could care less about ABC, but think they are mostly carried by e* in HD as well...

mikemorin, you only listed 10 markets--any chance of you listing the other 6 named? I just want to see what the larger pattern is, if there is one.:)
TIA,
fitzie

I'm gonna guess the other 6 are "SD" EA markets...

BTW still looking for confirmation on this...

DFW Market - Will it end up being EA or WA?

With the DFW HD locals on both the 110 and 61.5 sats, which 'arc' will the DFW HD and SD channels end up being on? Just one or both?

It looks like Lexington AND Louisville, Kentucky may be on it's way. We will see what happens. That makes me REALLY annoyed now, and I'm allowed to take over Tony's spot as the resident most upset about lack of local HD coverage with #25 in Indianapolis. LOL. If this information is indeed true, I am very happy for Tony. :)

Woohoo Harrisburg :clap

I hope it's put on 61.5 as well, but unfortunately I don't think the 61.5 spots line up good for the whole market, so we'll probably get put on 72.7 or 77.

But yes, ABC, NBC, and Fox are safe bets, as sister stations in nearby markets are on Dish in HD.

WHP is going to suck, as WHP typically carries Steelers games, and that means a lot to people in the market. But unfortunately none of Newport's other stations are on Dish in HD due to carriage disputes. Never thought I'd miss Clear Channel.

I guess this weekend I'll climb up on the roof and add 72.7 & 77 to my setup, just need Dish to get off there butts and send me cards for my 622 & 722.

I'll give you a run for the money on that one. All the freakin' contracts are signed, so it's a capability issue - which SUCKS, we may NEVER get our HD locals

Weston / Clarksburg WV, sure could use the eastern arc to get over these hills/ little mountains,
I dont know when our locals will be ready to transmit HD
