I just received an email from Dish telling me that the new "upgraded" CUI interface is ready to be downloaded to my receiver. The email says that it will be downloaded on 06-29-2017.

Oh well, I knew it would happen someday. I hope it goes smoothly.

Since I also received the same email telling me it's coming on 6/29 I guess Dish is earnest in getting all Hoppers on the same UI. Too bad for those with the H1, unless Dish has a plan to offer them an upgrade to at least the HWS.

That why I got when I complained to corporate customer service. They even gave me expedited shipping.

Yup got the same email for the 29th except I downloaded the CUI back in January. Can't wait to see if DISH screws my whole system. Maybe I should paint my front door with blood to ensure the DISH mist passes me by....

Ha ha! Received the email about the update on 6/29 yesterday. Woke up today with system telling me to insert my smart card. So I did, system restarted, but no upgrade yet. I don't know if this was a failed attempt at upgrading or what...

Is it normal for the Hopper to ask to reinsert the smart card after the CUI upgrade?

If I were you, I would give the new UI about (2) days and then call Dish with your complaints 'cause you will have them. I'd skip the HWS and go straight for the Hopper 3. Tell them up-front that you're willing to pay a 'reasonable' charge and you will commit to a new 2-year agreement (not that you'd have a choice on the 2-year commitment part). Do this before too many customers do the same and Dish possibly puts an end to free to low-cost upgrades.

I already have the HWS so I'll wait to see if the UI performance is acceptable to me. I've read that the CUI degrades the performance of the HWS only somewhat. Come June 29th, I shall see.

Both my HWSs performance is ok for me with the new CUI. My Joey 1 is a little slow but everything works great. Why wait, if you have the time and nothing recording, down load it yourself so you can deal with any issues instead of waking up one morning and being is a state of shock. You should have an App to do it in your HWS apps. You will feel better you did it your self and wasn't forced on you. Good luck.

I have an HWS and SJ. I assume that the new CUI is also going out to my configuration also? Should I just wait and see what happens or hit the "app" button mentioned above and chance it?
