New Channels Coming to Dish

Have not heard of any new channels coming, though on the HD front, in September contract with Disney is up. What that brings who knows, hopefully good things and both sides work things out like HD being turned back on for ESPNU and the other Disney company HD channels that are not in HD.

You got it! I've seen TVLand in HD requested more frequently of late. Keeping my fingers crossed!
What channels are actually available, that aren't in a contract dispute? To me, the one channel would be MSG. But I'm not holding my breath.
Given recent history, I worry more about LOSING what we have now when that contract runs out, or at least for a period during "negotiations".
I'm hoping we get/keep the soon to be rebranded FXX.

True, will be an interesting time in about seven weeks or so. Hope it will work out.
What are some of the HD channels that are out there that Dish doesn't carry ?
With TVLand, how many of those shows have been re-worked for HD format ? Many were recorded on video and not in high enough resolution, especially sitcoms from the 80s and such.

Im not even sure a lot of whats left to add in HD. I dont watch half of it now, with all these channels and their original programming like FX, the premiums, Discovery, AMC, A&E, etc... its hard enough to keep up as it is now.
I hope dish and the mouse work their issues out soon. Since ESPN locked up SEC and ACC coverage, Id really like U and News in HD.

i expect we will lose disney/espn channels for an extended period of time, but not permanently, because neither dish nor disney can afford it. dish can't afford to lose the subscription base, and disney can't afford to lose the revenue with all their huge contracts.
I hope that working out their issues means that it just isn't a contract extension of what we already have - when the new contract comes out, I hope it includes ESPNU and ESPN News in HD. It would stink if Dish went the cheaper route to not include those two channels in HD (if Disney would offer them a cheaper price without those two in HD)
