Hi Everyone..
I am a 60 year old Aussie [Australian] male who has been given a old sat receiver but have not got a clue what to do with it??? Now please be nice if you answer this message as swearing is not allowed. I have not got a clue what I am doing but will [hopefully] have a lot of fun trying to work it out..It is a old jiuzhu model DVS-398H.. I have no instructions [or experience] at all at setting one of these things up.. I know you probably will say throw it away but will try and play with this one then buy something more modern. Have anyone got a simple step by step instructions on how to set up.
Well hope someone can help me and I mean HELP. Well will have a look around the site and see how confused I can get myself.. All the best Peter Mac..

Well you are definitely in the wrong forum. that is not a Directv receiver.

If you are in Australia you probably need to look for another place to look for information. Even our FTA forum will be information north of the equater so it probably won't apply to you.

We'll help you the best we can.
Just remember that the same hardware may be sold in North America under different names, if at all.
And your satellites are not exactly the ones we deal with on a daily basis.
If you don't find what you want here, the Vetrun Satellite forum in Oz may be of help.
Welcome aboard ! - :up

What size dish are you using, and are you trying for C-band or Ku-band reception?

Not long ago, I read an article about Australia deciding to scrap their terrestrial system in favor of a satellite based distribution system. I wish I'd save the link. This is future stuff, but I believe FTA is coming to the land down under.
Regards, my Mom's an Aussie, WWII war bride, from Brisbane.
