New 508 pvr owner with ?

I have just become the 1st time owner of a pvr this weekend. When the receiver is in use, I hear a slight noise that reminds me of a vcr when it is recording. Is this normal? I am not use to this noise, since I replaced my 4900 with this unit?

It is normal to hear a slight noise, it will be the fan or hard drive that you will be hearing.
