Why our monthly prices are changing

Not yet but I have the UHD plan.

After a Google it appears this was announced the beginning of October.

Even at $10.99 a month for the content you get its a great value. And since in the future streaming services will be about the original content until Disney start its streaming service (which I will purchase as well) no one has more original content then Netflix. I dont personally like all of the original programming it has but it has something for everyone. And the writing is on the wall for how cheap these streaming services are going to be and for how long. Its no secret that the cord cutting revolution is more then a fad. millions of people have spoken loudly and clearly. We want the content we choose, and want it at an affordable price. Cable and Satellite providers got greedy, and as a result peeved a lot of people off. With ondemand internet provided content we save by not needing a dvr and the assosiated fees. Most people can receive quite a bit over the air with an antenna, and have free dvr options for that (other then the cost for equipment), and best of all there are no draconian contracts to keep you locked into a service with streaming. Its a win win, for now. I expect the prices to start creeping up for all streaming services. it will become pretty important to choose the options that are best for you. Hopefully services like sling dont start lumping in a ton of QVC and multi lingual programming and force you to pay for it like current cable and satellite programming do now.

It's slightly more complicated than that. The TV channels have a lot of say in how much providers charge. It's not all "corporate greed."

I have no problem with what i was paying for for the premiums, they are pretty much the same no matter where you go. But when they bundle channels you want in the 250 channel bundle with no way to get that channel otherwise then they are fleecing you my friend. And then they fleece you again with all the equipment fees, dvr fees, multi room access fees. Even if YOU buy the equipment they still charge you to use YOUR equipment. Just the fact that you can now buy stand alone DVR solutions for ota and FTA satellite prove that this is a fee that they rip you off for. I get nearly all of the channels i want with sling orange plus whatever premiums I want and pay less then half of what i was paying before. But full disclosure i did have all of the premiums before and now i only have 4 HBO, Stars, EPIX and Encore.

But yes they pay for access to the content they provide and mark it up and resell to us the consumer. But they way they choose to package the content nets them a healthy profit. ANd i subscribed to Netflix when the streaming service was released and have supported the service since. I like how the model works. Its content i can watch when i choose to watch it, as much as i want to watch it, and i can cancel at any time without penalty.

However back to the subject at hand even at $10.99 a month netflix is a good value, even the UHD plan you pay for is a good value and id wager there is a heck of a lot more available in UHD then anywhere else for what you pay. I figure you think so too or you wouldn't pay for the service.

I pay for the UHD plan because it includes 4 simultaneous streams. I have moochers on my account.

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the originals I'm following and the new ones that keep getting added. It used to just be House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, and Hemlock Grove for me. Now every time I fire up the app there's new Marvel or other sci-fi shows, comedies, documentaries, specials, period dramas, imports, etc.--many of them getting great reviews. I just finished Alias Grace, which I really enjoyed, and need to decide between Babylon Berlin and Altered Carbon, which both premiere this week. And that's not counting a dozen others in my "for later" queue, including Godless, Peaky Blinders, Glitch, Black Mirror, and Medici. It's no wonder I rarely watch Prime.
